Descripción

A large, well-established division of this exceptionally rare color form from the cloud forests of Ecuador, with vigorous, creeping stems bearing glossy, well-spaced ovate leaves and active rhizomes. The pendant flowers are the defining feature: the genus’ signature closed, ovoid fused-sepal structure rendered entirely in luminous golden yellow — with one lateral sepal spiraling outward — making this xanthinum form one of the most sought-after rarities in the Zootrophion genus.

  • Light: Moderate indirect light with 55–65% shade cloth; avoid direct sun, which can stress the glossy foliage.
  • Temperature: 58–72°F (14–22°C); an intermediate grower that benefits from consistent temperatures and good airflow.
  • Humidity: 65–85%; high humidity supports vigorous scandent growth and regular blooming cycles.
  • Watering: Water thoroughly and allow the mix to approach dryness between waterings; well-developed pseudobulbs provide moderate drought tolerance.

Additional Notes

Blooms repeatedly throughout the year directly from the pseudobulb base. Best grown mounted on cork bark or in a hanging basket with coarse bark to accommodate its creeping habit. An extraordinary collector’s specimen virtually impossible to find outside specialist collections. Ships bare-root in excellent condition.
