Vanda cristata

A compact epiphytic species from Himalayan montane forests, bearing short clusters of sculptural flowers among leathery, strap-shaped leaves. Fleshy, arching sepals and slender petals surround an elongated lip with prominent ridges and a distinctly forked tip, giving each bloom a striking, almost sculpted profile.

• Light: Bright filtered light with 40–60% shade cloth; gentle morning sun is beneficial, but protect the foliage from harsh midday exposure.
• Temperature: 50–77°F (10–25°C); a cool to intermediate grower that appreciates cooler nights and protection from prolonged heat.
• Humidity: 60–80% with steady air movement, especially around the roots and leaf bases.
• Watering: Water thoroughly during active growth, allowing the roots to approach dryness between applications. Reduce watering in cooler winter conditions without leaving the plant dry for extended periods.

Additional Notes

Grow in a slotted pot or small basket with coarse orchid bark and excellent drainage to accommodate the aerial roots. This montane species benefits from seasonal changes, with generous moisture during active growth and a somewhat drier, cooler winter. Shipped bare root, well-established.
