Descripción

This miniature, monopodial epiphyte, grows on tree trunks and mossy branches in warm, humid forests at elevations between 1000 and 1500 meters. This species is popular for its diminutive size, creeping habit, and relatively large flowers.

  • Light: Requires medium to bright, filtered light. It does well with steady, bright light but must be protected from direct, hot sunlight, which can damage the foliage.
  • Temperature: It's a warm-to-intermediate growing species. Maintain daytime temperatures between 70-85°F (21-29°C). Night temperatures can drop slightly but should remain above 65°F (18°C).
  • Humidity: High humidity is essential, ideally 70% or higher. Provide constant and vigorous air circulation to prevent stagnant conditions, which are particularly harmful for small plants grown under high humidity.
  • Watering: Water frequently and consistently throughout the year, as this plant lacks pseudobulbs and has no storage organs. The roots should dry quickly, but the plant should never be allowed to dry out completely. It is best grown mounted to ensure proper root aeration.

Additional Notes

This is a miniature plant, characterized by its very short stem, often forming small, dense mats. It produces single, relatively large flowers (about 0.75 inches or 2 cm across) successively along the stem. The blooms are waxy and long-lasting.
