Información

Racinaea spiculosa

An epiphytic bromeliad native to Ecuador, found on mossy branches in intermediate Andean cloud forests. It produces a distinctive digitate inflorescence composed of multiple parallel, densely imbricate spikes with glossy, scale-like bracts, emerging from dark, mottled basal bracts at the stem tip.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with good air circulation; tolerates moderate shade but develops its best form with diffuse, consistent light exposure.
  • Temperature: 54–72°F (12–22°C); an intermediate grower that appreciates stable, fresh conditions and does not tolerate prolonged heat or frost.
  • Humidity: 65–85%; moderate to high humidity supports healthy development and prevents desiccation.
  • Watering: Mist or soak thoroughly 2–3 times per week; allow to dry between waterings and ensure no standing water accumulates at the base.

Additional Notes

Grown and established at Ecuagenera in Ecuador, this species is shipped bare root and well-established. Best mounted on cork or tree fern, or potted in a very open, fast-draining mix of bark and perlite with excellent airflow.
