Phragmipedium Alae Animae

A striking hybrid between Phrag. caudatum and Phrag. anguloi, combining the dramatic, elongated petals of the former with the bold, well-formed pouch and upright dorsal sepal of the latter, resulting in a large, commanding flower with gracefully arching lateral petals that curve downward from a broad, erect dorsal sepal.

• Light: Grow under 50–70% shade cloth; avoid direct sun, which causes leaf scorch and stress.
• Temperature: Intermediate grower. Daytime 63–75°F (17–24°C), nights 54–61°F (12–16°C). Tolerates a moderate day-night differential well.
• Humidity: Prefers 60–80% relative humidity; humidity trays or a humidifier with good air circulation keep conditions ideal.
• Watering: Keep evenly moist at all times; Phragmipedium hybrids tolerate and often benefit from sitting in a shallow tray of water, unlike most orchids.

Additional Notes

Best cultivated in medium pots with a well-draining mix of fine bark, perlite, and sphagnum moss. Consistent moisture and intermediate temperatures bring out its best growth and flowering performance.
