A primary hybrid of Onc. tigroides × Onc. blandum, two cool-growing species from the cloud forests of Ecuador. It produces arching, branched flower spikes densely set with small, star-shaped flowers featuring narrow, heavily spotted sepals and petals and a trilobed lip with a prominent central callus.
-
Light: Bright indirect light with 40–60% shade cloth; good light levels encourage prolific flowering without scorching the foliage.
-
Temperature: 50–68°F (10–20°C); a cool grower that benefits from a distinct temperature drop at night and consistent air movement.
-
Humidity: 65–80%; moderate to high humidity supports healthy pseudobulb development and abundant blooming.
-
Watering: Water thoroughly and allow the substrate to approach dryness between waterings; avoid prolonged wetness at the roots.
Additional Notes
Best grown in a well-draining bark mix in a pot sized to the root system, or mounted for excellent air circulation. Plants are shipped bare root and well established; pot promptly upon arrival and water thoroughly to rehydrate the roots.
