Descripción

This plant is highly favored by collectors for its superior foliage. It is a vigorous, tropical climbing aroid and epiphyte native to the rainforests of Central and South America, where it uses trees for support to reach filtered light.

  • Light: Bright, indirect light promotes dense growth and maximum fenestration. Tolerates medium light but grows slower. Avoid direct sun.
  • Temperature: Warm conditions between 20-30°C. Protect from cold drafts or temperatures below 15°C.
  • Humidity: High humidity (60% or more) is ideal. Use a humidifier or group with other plants to prevent dry leaf tips.
  • Watering: Allow top 1-2 inches of soil to dry between waterings. Prefers consistently moist conditions but avoid soggy soil. Use a chunky, aroid-specific potting mix.

Additional Notes

This variety is distinguished from the common M. adansonii by its leaves, which are typically larger, glossier, a deeper dark green, and often have more pronounced, symmetrical fenestrations (holes). As a vining epiphyte, providing a moss pole or trellis will encourage the leaves to mature and maximize their size and fenestration.
