DescripciΓ³n

DescripciΓ³n

This distinctive species produces unique flowers with rounded, head-like form that gives the species its name, blooming reliably throughout the year. The compact growth habit and vigorous nature make this an excellent choice for collectors.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 50-70% shade cloth protection. Avoid direct sunlight which can damage foliage.
  • Temperature: Intermediate-cool grower. Daytime 63-75Β°F (17-24Β°C), nighttime 54-63Β°F (12-17Β°C). Maintain a 10-12Β°F day-night differential for optimal blooming.
  • Humidity: 65-80% with good air circulation. Use humidity trays or humidifiers while ensuring adequate airflow to prevent disease.
  • Watering: Keep media consistently moist. Mounted plants need daily misting, potted specimens 3-4 times weekly. Reduce slightly in winter without allowing complete drying.

Additional Notes

Native to Ecuador at elevations of 2,200-3,000 meters. Best grown mounted on tree fern or cork bark, though adapts well to small pots with fine bark mix or sphagnum moss.
