DescripciΓ³n

DescripciΓ³n

This attractive species produces elegant flowers with contrasting tones between the inner and outer surfaces of the sepals, creating a distinctive two-toned appearance that gives the species its name.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 50-70% shade cloth protection. Avoid direct sunlight which can damage foliage.
  • Temperature: Intermediate grower. Daytime 64-77Β°F (18-25Β°C), nighttime 55-64Β°F (13-18Β°C). Maintain a 10-12Β°F day-night differential for optimal flowering.
  • Humidity: 65-80% with good air circulation. Use humidity trays or humidifiers while ensuring adequate airflow to prevent disease.
  • Watering: Keep media consistently moist. Mounted plants need daily misting, potted specimens 3-4 times weekly. Reduce slightly in winter without allowing complete drying.

Additional Notes

Native to Colombia at elevations of 2,200-3,000 meters. Best grown mounted on tree fern or cork bark, though adapts well to small pots with fine bark mix or sphagnum moss.
