Lycaste lasioglossa

Lycaste lasioglossa is a distinctive species orchid with broad, pleated foliage and substantial pseudobulbs that give it a lush, architectural presence. Its seasonal growth rhythm makes it especially rewarding for collectors who enjoy watching an orchid progress from fresh growth through maturation and rest.

Care Guide

• Light: Provide medium filtered light and protect the broad foliage from harsh direct sun.
• Water: Water generously while new growth and roots are active, keeping the medium evenly moist but never stagnant. Reduce watering as growth matures or leaves begin to yellow, while preventing severe pseudobulb shriveling.
• Humidity: Maintain moderate to high humidity with consistent air circulation around the foliage and root zone.
• Temperature: Grow in cool to intermediate conditions with a noticeable nighttime drop. Protect the plant from prolonged heat, cold drafts, and abrupt extremes.
• Growing medium: Use an airy, moisture-retentive orchid mix that drains freely. Repot as new roots begin and before the medium becomes compacted.

With filtered light, abundant moisture during active growth, cooler nights, and a measured seasonal reduction in watering, Lycaste lasioglossa can mature into a vigorous and impressive specimen.
