Lepanthes ictalurus

A cool-growing species from the Andean cloud forests, producing pendant, large-for-the-genus flowers on slender ramicauls that emerge from the leaf axils. Each bloom displays fused sepals forming a broad ovate-lanceolate structure with an acuminate apex, a densely ciliate inner surface, and a prominent linear lip projecting forward.

• Light: Bright indirect light with 50–70% shade cloth; avoid direct sun exposure to protect the delicate foliage.
• Temperature: 50–65°F (10–18°C); a cool grower that requires consistent nighttime temperature drops to thrive. Minimum tolerance around 45°F (7°C).
• Humidity: 80–90%; high ambient moisture is essential with good air circulation to prevent fungal issues.
• Watering: Keep roots consistently moist; water frequently in small amounts and never allow the medium to dry out completely.

Additional Notes

Best cultivated mounted on cork bark with fine sphagnum moss, or in a small net pot in a cool, humid enclosure. Ships bare root, well-established.
