Lepanthes David Portilla

A captivating primary hybrid from the cross between Lths. regularis and Lths. myiophora, combining the precise, geometric floral symmetry of the former with the fly-mimicking detail of the latter in a miniature package of remarkable complexity. First-generation species hybrids within Lepanthes are exceptionally rare in cultivation, making this a standout acquisition for the serious pleurothallid enthusiast.

• Light: Low to moderate indirect light under 60–70% shade cloth; avoid any direct sun, which quickly damages the delicate foliage.
• Temperature: Intermediate grower. Daytime 62–72°F (17–22°C), nighttime lows of 52–58°F (11–14°C); stable, consistent temperatures support continuous growth and flowering.
• Humidity: Requires high humidity of 75–85%; a humidifier or terrarium setup is strongly recommended, with gentle air movement to prevent stagnation.
• Watering: Keep the mount or substrate consistently moist at all times; fine Lepanthes roots are highly sensitive to drying and must never be allowed to desiccate.

Additional Notes

Best grown mounted on cork bark or tree fern with live sphagnum moss to maintain the constant moisture this hybrid requires.
