Descripción

A miniature epiphyte native to the cloud forests of Ecuador, bearing long, narrow leaves with a dense pubescent texture that gives the foliage a velvety, tactile quality. Tiny flowers emerge directly from the leaf surface, featuring finger-like lobed petals — the distinctive "digit-petaled" structure that gives this species its name — and an elaborately detailed lip of remarkable intricacy for its diminutive size.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 50–70% shade cloth; avoid direct sun, which can damage the velvety leaf surface.
  • Temperature: 55–72°F (13–22°C); an Intermediate grower that appreciates moderate temperatures with a slight drop at night and good air circulation.
  • Humidity: 75–90%; high humidity is essential to maintain the pubescent foliage and keep roots healthy.
  • Watering: Keep roots evenly moist; water frequently in small amounts with excellent drainage to prevent root rot.

Additional Notes

Best mounted on cork bark or grown in a small net pot with fine sphagnum moss to maintain root moisture and aeration. A closed terrarium or enclosed glass container makes an excellent environment for this species, though it can also thrive in any humid, well-ventilated setup. Ships bare root, well-established.
