Descripción

Hoya cagayanensis is a stunning trailing species native to the Cagayan Valley in the Philippines, prized for its cascading growth habit and exceptional flowering display that brings tropical elegance to any space.

  • Light: Provide bright, indirect light for optimal growth and abundant flowering. Can tolerate some direct morning sunlight, but protect from harsh afternoon rays which may damage the delicate blooms.
  • Temperature: Maintain temperatures between 18-26°C (65-80°F) for best growth. Protect from cold drafts, air conditioning vents, and sudden temperature fluctuations which can cause flower drop.
  • Humidity: Thrives in moderate to high humidity levels of 50-70%. Higher humidity promotes better flowering and prevents bud drop. Use a humidifier, pebble tray, or group with other tropical plants.
  • Watering: Allow soil to dry out between waterings as the succulent-like leaves store water efficiently. Water thoroughly when the top 2 inches of soil are dry, ensuring excellent drainage to prevent root rot.

Additional Notes:

Foliage Characteristics: Features glossy, waxy leaves with trailing vines that create beautiful cascading displays. Produces clusters of fragrant, cream-white star-shaped flowers with bright yellow centers, forming perfect spherical umbels that emit a sweet, honey-like fragrance especially in the evening.
