Descripción

An iconic epiphytic orchid celebrated for its pristine, pure white blooms and the rare elegance of its alba form — free of any pigmentation, with a luminous quality that sets it apart from the typical lavender-pink species. Flowers appear in clusters atop robust pseudobulbs, delivering a breathtaking seasonal display prized by collectors worldwide.

  • Light: Thrives in bright, indirect light with some filtered morning sun; use 30–40% shade cloth to protect from intense midday exposure.
  • Temperature: Intermediate to warm grower. Daytime temperatures of 68–82°F (20–28°C) with nighttime drops to 59–68°F (15–20°C); a day-night differential promotes reliable flowering.
  • Humidity: Prefers 60–75% relative humidity; ensure strong air circulation to prevent fungal issues.
  • Watering: Water thoroughly when the medium approaches dryness; allow a brief dry period between waterings to prevent root rot, reducing frequency in winter.

Additional Notes

Native to Central America (Mexico to Costa Rica) at lower to mid elevations, formerly classified as Cattleya skinneri and reclassified into the genus Guarianthe based on molecular studies. Best grown in coarse bark mix or mounted on cork bark with excellent drainage.
