Descripción

Descripción

A striking primary hybrid of Epi. medusae × Epi. melanoporphyreum, combining the large, fleshy floral structure of both parents. The flowers feature reflexed lanceolate sepals, narrow petals, and an oversized, broadly spreading lip with deeply fringed, lacinate margins — a dramatic, sculptural bloom produced on a compact sympodial plant with broad, lanceolate leaves marked by a pigmented midrib.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 50–60% shade cloth; avoid direct midday sun, which can scorch the broad foliage.
  • Temperature: 50–68°F (10–20°C); a cool grower that thrives with the cold nights characteristic of high Andean cloud forests.
  • Humidity: 75–85%; high humidity supports the fleshy growth habit and promotes consistent flowering.
  • Watering: Water thoroughly and allow the substrate to approach dryness between waterings; avoid prolonged saturation at the roots.

Additional Notes

A primary hybrid between two Andean cloud forest species, inheriting the bold floral presence of both parents. Best grown in a well-draining bark-based mix. Ships bare root, well-established.
