Descripción

A slender, elegant reed-stem species that produces terminal clusters of delicate flowers with a refined, understated charm characteristic of the smaller Andean Epidendrum. Its compact cane habit and adaptable intermediate nature make it an easy, rewarding species for growers at any level.

  • Light: Bright, indirect light under 40–50% shade cloth; good light levels support sturdy cane development and reliable flowering.
  • Temperature: Intermediate grower. Daytime 65–78°F (18–26°C), nighttime lows of 55–62°F (13–17°C); tolerates mild temperature fluctuations without issue.
  • Humidity: Prefers 60–75% relative humidity; humidity trays or a humidifier combined with good air movement keep canes and roots in optimal condition.
  • Watering: Water thoroughly and allow the mix to approach dryness before the next watering; reduce slightly during cooler periods while avoiding complete desiccation.

Additional Notes

Native to Ecuador at mid-elevation Andean forests between 1,500–2,500 meters. Best grown in a well-draining medium bark mix; repot every 2–3 years when the substrate begins to break down.
