Produces dense clusters of small, waxy flowers in pristine white with delicate purple-pink edges and tips that emerge directly from the nodes along the canes, creating an elegant and refined display when in full bloom.
Received in Madison Wisconsin during the dead of Winter yet perfectly warm, healthy and hydrated. I was thinking I'd be receiving something around the size of a seedling, and would have been happy. Instead, what I received has a massive root system, five mature pseudobulbs, a healthy immature pseudobulb just having opened a leaf and, three buds, one of which has since opened. I couldn't be happier!
Received in Madison Wisconsin during the dead of Winter, I don't know what I was expected but I definitely was NOT expecting such a massive root system two open blooms and a bud likely to open in the next week. That wasn't just a fluke though, of the three Cuthbertsonii I ordered/received, all three have well matured growths above the surface, massive root systems below and two with buds/blooms. I have mounted the non-blooming orchid and it's doing its "Happy Camper" routine. I could easily get addicted to Equagenera!
I received it in the middle of the Winter in Wisconsin but yet one wouldn't have known that from the condition it arrived in, packed, heated and insulated with obvious care. By itself, this could have been a 5-star with nothing else to compare it to but compared to the two other Cuthbertsonii I received in the same order, both of which are exceptional, less than 5 but more than 4 seems about right. Although the orchid seems healthy enough, it seems to have struggled at some point in the past with some of the pseudobulbs having lost their leaves and the remaining tips appearing blackened. But, the other three mature and two immature pseudobulbs look healthy enough and should do well.
I picked it up at the show, and It was in great shape. the packing was good, no leaf damage whatsoever. I put it in orchid bark, some perlite and hopefully it will acclimate. The specimen was a good size.
Cannot wait to see its beautiful flowers.
