Begonia rex 'silver'

A foliage form of the Rex Begonia group, grown for its large, asymmetric leaves with a striking metallic texture and bold, dark venation that creates a dramatic contrast across the entire leaf surface. The margins are sharply toothed and fringed with fine hairs, and the leaf undersides carry a deep burgundy tone that adds depth to the overall display.

• Light: Bright indirect light; avoid direct sun, which fades the metallic leaf patterning and causes scorching.
• Temperature: 60–75°F (15–24°C); a warm grower that prefers stable indoor temperatures and dislikes cold drafts.
• Humidity: 50–70%; moderate to high humidity keeps the large leaves turgid and prevents browning at the margins.
• Watering: Water when the top centimeter of the medium is dry; avoid wetting the leaves and never allow the roots to sit in standing water.

Additional Notes

Best grown in a light, well-draining mix with good aeration, such as a peat-free blend with perlite, in a shallow pot that fits the root system without excess space. Shipped well established and ready to settle into its new environment with minimal acclimation.
