Descripción

This rare epiphytic aroid is distinguished by its leathery, intensely bullate leaves that exhibit a rugged, corrugated texture characteristic of the species. It stands out due to its compact growth habit and deep green foliage, often displaying slightly more elongated or narrowed leaf proportions compared to other variants.

  • Light: Bright, indirect light or heavy shade. Protect strictly from direct sun, as the textured leaf surface is highly prone to scorching and irreversible tissue damage.
  • Temperature: 59-77°F (15-25°C). Prefers cool to intermediate conditions; avoid environments exceeding 82°F (28°C) and ensure protection from cold drafts or frost.
  • Humidity: High levels, consistently between 70-90%. A stable, moisture-rich environment is essential to maintain the integrity of the rugose foliage and prevent leaf margin desiccation.
  • Watering: Maintain a consistently damp but well-oxygenated substrate. Water when the surface begins to feel dry to the touch, ensuring the use of a highly porous medium to prevent water stagnation.

Additional notes

This variety comes from high-altitude cloud forests and is particularly sensitive to heat stress and the mineral salts in tap water. It is grown in a thick, acidic mixture of sphagnum moss and perlite, and rainwater or standing water for irrigation is strongly recommended.
