Descripción

This miniature epiphytic orchid is native to Madagascar and parts of Africa, where it grows in humid forests at low elevations. It is a small, monopodial plant valued for its compact size and highly fragrant white flowers.

  • Light: Requires medium to low light. It needs bright, indirect light, but must be strictly protected from direct sunlight, which can burn the leaves.
  • Temperature: An intermediate to warm-growing species. Daytime temperatures should range from 68-86°F (20-30°C). Night temperatures can drop slightly to 60-70°F (16-21°C).
  • Humidity: Needs high, constant humidity, ideally 60% to 85%. High humidity must be paired with excellent air circulation to prevent rot.
  • Watering: Water frequently throughout the year, especially if mounted (recommended for this species). Roots should dry quickly after watering but should not remain dry for long. Mounted plants may require daily watering in warm weather.

Additional Notes

Aerangis pumilio produces multiple, relatively short flower spikes on a very small plant. The flowers are tiny but numerous (typically 6-20 per spike), bright white, and highly fragrant, particularly at night. It can bloom at different times of the year.
