Información

Cattleya mossiae f. coerulea ('Blue Bird' x 'Herrerae')

An exceptional color form of this classic species originating from the dense mountain forests of South America, representing a sibling cross between two highly select, elite parental clones. This robust, upright epiphyte produces magnificent, large spring blooms celebrated for their full shape, heavily ruffled lip, and rare, elegant blue-violet color tones.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 40–60% shade cloth; avoid direct sun, which can stress the compact foliage.
  • Temperature: 59–79°F (15–26°C); an intermediate to warm grower that adapts well to stable indoor conditions.
  • Humidity: 60–80%; consistent humidity encourages vigorous growth and prolific flowering.
  • Watering: Water thoroughly and allow the mix to approach dryness between waterings; never allow the roots to remain waterlogged.

Additional Notes

This large-flowered orchid performs beautifully when grown in a coarse, fast-draining bark mix inside a well-ventilated pot to accommodate its mid-to-large plant size. It ships bare root, well established, and should be gently rehydrated at an intermediate temperature prior to potting upon arrival.
