Pleurothallis dunstervillei

A miniature epiphytic orchid from the cloud forests of South America, producing clusters of slender scapes that emerge directly from a single, large, coriaceous leaf. The small flowers feature elongated, filiform lateral sepals that extend dramatically beyond the floral body, with a small, dark-spotted labellum at the center — a highly distinctive and ornamental floral structure within the pleurothallid alliance.

• Light: Low to medium indirect light with 60–80% shade cloth; avoid direct sun, which can desiccate the single leaf and stress the plant.
• Temperature: 48–68°F (9–20°C); a cool to intermediate grower that requires stable, mild temperatures and excellent air circulation.
• Humidity: 75–90%; very high humidity is essential to maintain the coriaceous leaf and support continuous flowering from the same growth.
• Watering: Keep the mount or medium evenly moist; never allow to dry out completely, as the plant lacks pseudobulbs for water storage.

Additional Notes

Pleurothallis dunstervillei is best grown mounted on cork or in a small pot with a fine, moisture-retentive mix and strong air movement. Shipped bare root in well-established condition, ready to mount or pot upon arrival.
