Descripción

Descripción

A robust epiphyte from the cloud forests of South America, producing arching spikes with several large, spectacular flowers. The broadly spreading sepals and petals have a leathery texture with a strongly undulate and finely fringed margin, while the very wide trilobed lip features a densely fringed bilobed frontal lobe and a richly ornamented central callus with prominent filaments.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 40–60% shade cloth; avoid direct midday sun, which can stress the long, glossy foliage.
  • Temperature: 50–68°F (10–20°C); a cool grower that thrives with distinct seasonal temperature variation and consistent air movement.
  • Humidity: 65–85%; high ambient moisture supports vigorous pseudobulb development and the production of large, well-formed flowers.
  • Watering: Water thoroughly and allow the medium to approach dryness between waterings; never allow roots to sit in standing water.

Additional Notes

Best grown in a medium to coarse bark mix with excellent drainage and good airflow around the roots. Plants are shipped bare root, well established, and ready to adapt quickly to their new growing environment.
