Maxillaria valenzuelana

An epiphytic species native to the cloud forests of Ecuador, recognized by its highly distinctive monophyllous habit — long, channeled, succulent leaves arching outward from flattened, elongated pseudobulbs — with small flowers emerging from the base between the leaves. Its bold, sculptural vegetative structure makes it an architectural statement plant even outside of bloom.

• Light: Bright indirect light with 30–50% shade cloth; tolerates slightly more light than most Maxillaria due to its succulent leaf structure.
• Temperature: 62–82°F (17–28°C); thrives as a warm grower with stable temperatures and minimal cold exposure.
• Humidity: 60–80%; moderate to high humidity supports healthy leaf and root development.
• Watering: Water thoroughly and allow the mix to approach dryness between waterings; the succulent leaves provide some drought tolerance.

Additional Notes

Best grown in a well-draining bark-based mix in a pot or mounted on cork. Plants are shipped bare root, well established, and ready to adapt to your growing conditions.
