Información

Cattleya walkeriana

A highly prized species from the seasonally dry forests of South America, celebrated for its unique growth habit and exceptional floral symmetry. This dwarf epiphyte produces short, bulbous pseudobulbs that give rise to separate, specialized flowering stems bearing large, remarkably flat blooms with an intense, captivating fragrance.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 40-60% shade cloth; avoid direct sun, which can stress the compact foliage.
  • Temperature: 59-86°F (15-30°C); an adaptable intermediate grower that benefits from a distinct night temperature drop.
  • Humidity: 60-80%; consistent humidity encourages vigorous growth and prolific flowering.
  • Watering: Water thoroughly and allow the mix to approach dryness between waterings; never allow the roots to remain waterlogged.

Additional Notes

Best grown in a coarse, fast-draining medium or mounted on a plaque to accommodate its distinct creeping rhizome and ensure maximum root aeration. Ships bare root, well established, and ready to be rehydrated at an intermediate temperature and promptly potted upon receipt.
