Descripción

This is a compact, warm-to-intermediate growing epiphyte native to Colombia. It features slender stems (ramicauls) topped by a single, leathery, elliptical leaf. This orchid is highly favored by collectors for its attractive, continuously produced flowers.

  • Light: Prefers medium, indirect light to partial shade. Protect it from direct sun exposure, which can burn the leaves.
  • Temperature: Requires intermediate to warm conditions. Temperatures should range from 68-86°F (20-30°C) during the day, with a minimum night temperature of 58°F (14°C).
  • Humidity: Needs high humidity, ideally 60-80%. Good air movement is essential to prevent leaf spot and fungal issues in these humid conditions.
  • Watering: Consistent moisture year-round. The roots should never be allowed to fully dry out. Water daily or every other day, especially if grown mounted, or keep the potting medium consistently damp.

Additional Notes

This species produces short, single-flowered inflorescences continuously from the base of the leaf. The small, distinctive flowers are typically flattened and range in color from orange-brown to crystalline orange, measuring about 3/5 inch (1.5 cm).
