Lepanthes pelyx

A distinctive miniature species native to Ecuador. It grows a large elliptic leaf with a finely papillose texture, and produces successive flowers directly over the leaf surface with an erect acuminate dorsal sepal, concave pubescent lateral sepals curving downward, and a compact central floral complex with rounded bilobed petals and a prominent elongated labellum.

• Light: Bright indirect light with 50–70% shade cloth; avoid direct sun, which can damage the textured foliage.
• Temperature: 52–68°F (11–20°C); an Intermediate-Cool grower that appreciates stable temperatures and consistent air movement.
• Humidity: 78–92%; maintain high humidity at all times — ideal for cool-intermediate terrarium setups.
• Watering: Water frequently to keep the medium evenly moist; avoid prolonged dryness, as Lepanthes roots are sensitive to dehydration.

Additional Notes

Best grown mounted on cork or in a small net pot with fine sphagnum moss. Its ornamental papillose leaf and intricately structured flowers make it an excellent terrarium subject. Plants are shipped bare root and well-established.
