Descripción

This specific cross between two highly-selected clones, 'Macara Pepe' and 'Gigi Dream', aims to produce exceptionally vigorous plants with superior flower quality and a high number of blooms per spike. C. maxima is an easy-to-grow epiphytic species, valued for its large, star-shaped flowers and very distinctive, ruffled, tubular lip.

  • Light: Bright, indirect light is best. Healthy foliage should be a light green color. Avoid intense midday sun, which can scorch the leaves.
  • Temperature: Enjoys intermediate conditions. Day temperatures should be 68-86°F (20-30°C), with a beneficial night drop to 60-70°F (16-21°C) to help stimulate blooming.
  • Humidity: Requires moderate to high humidity, ideally 50% to 70%. Ensure excellent air circulation at all times to prevent fungal issues.
  • Watering: Allow the potting mix to dry slightly between waterings. Water thoroughly when you do, letting all excess water drain out. Water more frequently during active growth periods.

Additional Notes

The main characteristic is the long, tubular, and highly wavy lip, with deep purple or orange veins on a yellow throat. This cross is selected for its potential to produce a large number of flowers (up to eight or more) on a single spike when the plant is mature.
