Descripción

This is a small to medium-sized, epiphytic species found across a wide vertical range, from sea level up to 2500 meters, in tropical dry and moist forests of Central and South America. This adaptability classifies it as a versatile Hot to Cool growing orchid.

  • Light: Intermediate light is suitable. Provide part shade or filtered bright light. Protect from harsh midday sun.
  • Temperature: Intermediate to Warm. Due to its wide native range, it is adaptable. Optimal daytime temperatures are between 70-85°F (C). Nighttime temperatures should drop to 55-95°F (13-18°C).
  • Humidity: Requires moderate humidity, ideally 50% or higher. Ensure good air movement, which is essential to prevent fungal issues.
  • Watering: Water thoroughly when the growing medium is approaching dryness. It prefers a brief rest after the pseudobulbs mature, but should not be allowed to dry out completely for long periods.

Additional Notes

This species is known for its exceptionally long, branching inflorescences that can reach up to 6 feet (1.8 meters) in length. These spikes carry numerous small, showy flowers, typically about 1" (2.5 cm) across.
