Información

Philodendron rugosum (medium)

A striking hemiepiphytic climber native to the moist montane forests of Ecuador, prized for its unique, thick, and leathery foliage that resembles pigskin. This architectural species exhibits a steady, appressed climbing habit, producing deeply textured, dark green leaves that bring a bold and sophisticated tropical presence to any indoor collection.

  • Light: Bright, filtered light; avoid harsh, direct midday sun which can scorch the foliage and mar its unique texture.
  • Temperature: 65–80°F (18–27°C); prefers stable, warm environments and should be kept away from cold drafts.
  • Humidity: 60–85%; high ambient humidity is essential to maintain the health and vigor of its textured leaves.
  • Watering: Maintain evenly moist, well-draining substrate; allow the top layer to approach dryness between waterings, ensuring the roots are never left waterlogged.

Additional Notes

Best cultivated on a moss pole or sturdy support to encourage its natural climbing habit and development of larger, more mature leaves. Ships bare root; please rehydrate in a temperate, intermediate environment before planting in a well-aerated aroid substrate
