Descripción

Descripción

A spectacular unifoliate species native to the deep forests of South America, exhibiting a compact sympodial growth habit with compressed, clavate pseudobulbs. The short, terminal inflorescences emerge from newly matured growth to bear clusters of large, heavily textured, and delightfully fragrant blossoms that display an intricately detailed, colorful lip.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 40–60% shade cloth; avoid direct sun, which can stress the compact foliage.
  • Temperature: 65–85°F (18–29°C); an intermediate to warm grower that adapts well to stable indoor conditions.
  • Humidity: 60–80%; consistent humidity encourages vigorous growth and prolific flowering.
  • Watering: Water thoroughly and allow the mix to approach dryness between waterings; never allow the roots to remain waterlogged.

Additional Notes

To maximize flower quality and prevent rot, maintain excellent air circulation around the container or mount during active growth. This small to medium-sized plant produces large, long-lasting blossoms and ships bare root, requiring a gentle rehydration at an intermediate temperature before being potted into a loose, well-draining orchid mix upon arrival.
