DescripciΓ³n

DescripciΓ³n

A stunning and highly coveted color form of this robust species native to the coastal forests of South America, developing tall, cylindrical, reed-like pseudobulbs. It produces upright, terminal inflorescences that carry numerous heavy-textured, waxy blossoms prized for the unique bluish-purple tones of their distinctive lip.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 40–60% shade cloth; avoid harsh, direct afternoon sun to protect the leathery foliage.
  • Temperature: 65–85Β°F (18–29Β°C); an intermediate to warm grower that performs optimally with excellent air movement.
  • Humidity: 60–80%; high ambient humidity supports vigorous pseudobulb development and healthy growth.
  • Watering: Water thoroughly and allow the medium to approach dryness between waterings, ensuring sharp drainage so the roots never remain waterlogged.

Additional Notes

Providing a distinct, slightly drier resting period after mature growth hardens off will encourage a prolific and uniform blooming cycle. This large-growing plant produces medium-sized flowers and ships bare root, needing intermediate-temperature rehydration before being potted into a well-draining orchid mix upon arrival.
