Descripción

This small, hot to cool-growing epiphyte, features ovoid pseudobulbs, each bearing a single apical leaf. This species is often grown in pots or baskets due to its preference for consistent moisture, though it can also be mounted.

  • Light: Prefers moderate to bright, filtered light. Ensure the plant receives ample light without being exposed to direct, burning midday sun.
  • Temperature: This orchid thrives in a warm to intermediate environment. Maintain temperatures between 60-80°F (16-27°C), aiming for the cooler end of the range at night to encourage flowering.
  • Humidity: High humidity is required, ideally between 60% and 85%. Always provide strong air movement to prevent stagnant conditions and potential disease.
  • Watering: Water frequently and generously to keep the potting medium consistently moist, but not soaking wet. The medium should be allowed to approach dryness slightly between waterings, especially in winter.

Additional Notes

This species is prized for its spectacular umbellate inflorescences, which feature a fan of large, striking flowers with a yellow background covered in dark burgundy spots. The flowers are typically fragrant, emitting a pleasant, peachy or fruity scent, and the lip is often described as "dancing" with air movement.
