A striking bromeliad from the cloud forests of South America, forming a bold rosette of long, arching, serrated leaves. At maturity, a compact, cone-shaped inflorescence emerges from the center, making it a dramatic focal point in any collection.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 40–60% shade cloth; avoid harsh midday sun, which can scorch the leaves.
  • Temperature: 59–77°F (15–25°C); best suited for intermediate-warm growers with no frost exposure.
  • Humidity: 60–80%; keep the central cup filled with fresh water and mist occasionally in dry conditions.
  • Watering: Water the central cup and allow the potting medium to dry slightly between waterings; avoid waterlogging the roots.

Additional Notes

Best grown in a well-draining mix of bark and perlite or mounted. Ships bare root, well-established. A robust and rewarding species for intermediate-warm bromeliad enthusiasts.
