This distinctive species produces striking flowers with unique coloration and form, making it a prized addition to any cool to intermediate-growing orchid collection.

  • Light: Bright indirect light to partial shade; avoid direct sunlight. East-facing windows or shaded greenhouse conditions are ideal.
  • Temperature: Daytime 61-75Β°F (16-24Β°C), nighttime 52-61Β°F (11-16Β°C).
  • Humidity: 70-85% with excellent air circulation.
  • Watering: Keep media consistently moist. Water frequently during active growth, reducing slightly in cooler months without allowing complete drying.

Additional Notes

Native to Ecuador, this species grows in cloud forests at intermediate elevations. It features distinctive flowers with unique characteristics. Best grown mounted or in small pots with fine bark mix or sphagnum moss.
