Encyclia dichroma, is a medium-sized orchid species native to northeastern Brazil. It is found on rocky outcrops and low, scrubby bushes in mountainous areas, making it an epiphyte or lithophyte.

  • Light: Requires bright, filtered light with protection from direct afternoon sun. Morning sunlight is beneficial for optimal flowering.
  • Temperature: Thrives in intermediate conditions with daytime temperatures of 20-26Β°C (68-79Β°F) and nighttime drops to 16-20Β°C (61-68Β°F).
  • Humidity: Maintains best health with humidity levels of 65-80%. Ensure excellent air circulation for optimal health.
  • Watering: Water regularly during growing season, allowing growing medium to approach dryness between waterings. Use well-draining orchid mix.

Additional Notes

This orchid is valued for its striking flowers, which are about 3.75 cm in diameter. The color can vary from white to pink and rosy-red, with a darker lip that often has a white margin. It generally blooms in the summer.
