A small epiphyte endemic to the cloud forests of Ecuador, producing solitary flowers directly on the surface of the glaucous, fleshy leaf. The broadly spreading lateral sepals are deep burgundy-purple with a striking central silver-cream band and finely ciliate margins — an elegant, fringed-wing effect unique to this species.
