Do you offer other types of plants besides orchids?
Yes. In addition to our extensive collection of orchids, we offer a curated selection of rare and exotic tropical plants, including Araceae (e.g., Anthurium, Philodendron), Bromeliads, and in vitro plantlets. Both species and hybrids are available.
Do orchids suffer during shipping?
Orchids are resilient but can undergo temporary stress during transport. Mild dehydration or wrinkled leaves are normal. We recommend soaking the roots in water with Superthrive or a gentle root stimulant upon arrival to support recovery.
What should I do if my orchid arrives with dry or dehydrated roots?
Soak the roots in a solution of water and a root stimulator (e.g., Superthrive) for 30–60 minutes. Afterward, pot the orchid in a suitable medium and maintain high humidity and indirect light. Repeat hydration treatments twice weekly for the first month to encourage recovery.
What should I do if my orchid has yellow or damaged leaves upon arrival?
Please email us clear photos of the affected plant, including close-ups of the damage, the plant label (if available), and your order number. This information helps us validate the claim and process warranty requests.
What substrate should I use for orchids?
Substrate depends on the orchid’s genus, size and growth habit:
- Small-sized orchids: Sphagnum moss with pumice
- Medium-sized orchids: Pine bark with pumice or charcoal
- Large-sized orchids: Coarse pine bark or coconut husk with pumice or other inert materials
Always ensure the medium provides excellent aeration and drainage.
Why hasn’t my orchid bloomed after arrival?
Flowering may be delayed due to acclimatization. Ensure your orchid receives bright, indirect light, consistent humidity (60–80%), proper temperature ranges, and adequate air movement. A balanced fertilization regimen will support future blooming.
What type of fertilizer should I use for my orchid?
Start with a foliar fertilizer or diluted liquid feed for recently shipped or rootless plants. Once established, apply a slow-release fertilizer like 13-13-13 (NPK) every 4–6 months. Complement this with a balanced water-soluble fertilizer during the growing season.
Do you offer tours at your greenhouses or nurseries?
Yes! Walk-in tours are available at our Gualaceo location (approximately 40 minutes in duration). For visits to our El Pangui or Guayaquil facilities, a prior reservation is required. Please contact the respective showrooms for availability and scheduling.
If you are an orchid specialist or belong to an orchid club anywhere in the world, kindly let us know or schedule an appointment by emailing sales@ecuagenera.com. Don’t forget to mention the plant genus you’re interested in!

How do refunds, credits, and replacements work?
We process compensation based on the condition of the plant at arrival. Valid claims may be resolved through a replacement in a future shipment, store credit, or a monetary refund (via PayPal or bank transfer).
How can I check if a plant is available?
Availability is listed on our website. If a plant is marked as sold out, contact our sales team for updates or personalized recommendations.
Can I order orchids if I live in an extreme climate (hot or cold)?
Yes, but we advise choosing expedited shipping and avoiding deliveries during temperature extremes. For cold climates, we offer thermal packs for added protection—please request these at checkout.
Can I track my order?
Yes. Once your order is dispatched, you’ll receive a tracking number to monitor shipping status in real-time.
How are plants shipped?
Plants are carefully packed in specialized, secure packaging to ensure they arrive in optimal condition. To comply with international regulations and meet the specific needs of each destination, our packaging methods may vary:
- Potted Orchids: Some countries require plants to be shipped in sterile growing media, so we use lightweight, breathable pots with secure anchoring to prevent movement.
- Mounted Orchids: For destinations with strict soil restrictions, orchids may be mounted on cork or driftwood with protective cushioning.
- Bare-Root Wrapped in Moss: When potting isn’t permitted, roots are gently wrapped in moist sphagnum moss and sealed in breathable material to retain humidity.
Additional safeguards—such as insulated liners for extreme climates or phytosanitary-certified boxes—are applied as needed. Every shipment is tailored to protect the plant and adhere to your country’s import guidelines.
