Zootrophion atropurpureum belongs to the genus Zootrophion and comes from our own propagation in Ecuador. It is a cool-to-intermediate orchid.

  • Light: Bright, indirect light, out of direct midday sun.
  • Temperature: Day temperatures of 18-26 °C (64-79 °F) with a gentle drop at night to 12-18 °C (54-64 °F) suit it best.
  • Humidity: High humidity (70-85%) with constant gentle air movement, much like its cloud-forest conditions, keeps the plant healthy and prevents fungal spots.
  • Watering: Water regularly during active growth, allowing the medium to begin drying between waterings. Reduce slightly during the cooler months.
