Information

Spathiphyllum Morona Santiago

A Spathiphyllum with unusually narrow, linear-lanceolate leaves featuring strongly undulate to crenate margins and a prominent midrib along slender, elongated petioles. The open, arching rosette of grass-like foliage gives this species a distinctly different character from cultivated forms, making it a rare and botanically compelling addition to any tropical collection.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 50–70% shade cloth; avoid direct sun, which can scorch the narrow, undulate leaf margins.
  • Temperature: 59–75°F (15–24°C); thrives as an intermediate grower with stable, cool to moderate temperatures and consistent humidity.
  • Humidity: 65–85%; high humidity is essential for this cloud forest species to maintain vigorous growth and prevent leaf tip browning.
  • Watering: Keep the substrate evenly moist but never waterlogged; Spathiphyllum prefers consistently moist conditions and is more sensitive to drought than most aroids.
  • Growth Habit: Terrestrial, clumping aroid that produces an open rosette of narrow, arching fronds from a central crown. This wild form from the cloud forests of Ecuador offers a striking contrast to commercial cultivars, with its elongated, grass-like foliage and strongly ruffled margins.

Additional Notes
