Bulbophyllum medusae

A warm-growing fragrant epiphyte from the lowland and montane forests of Southeast Asia, producing spectacular spherical umbellate inflorescences with dozens of simultaneously opening flowers. Each bloom bears extraordinarily long, thread-like lateral sepals that radiate outward and cascade in all directions — one of the most iconic and instantly recognizable inflorescences in the entire genus.

• Light: Bright indirect light with 40–50% shade cloth; avoid direct midday sun to protect the foliage.
• Temperature: 65–86°F (18–30°C); a warm grower with a minimum tolerance around 60°F (15°C).
• Humidity: 70–85%; maintain high humidity with strong air movement to keep roots healthy.
• Watering: Water thoroughly and allow the mix to approach dryness between waterings; avoid prolonged saturation at the roots.

Additional Notes

Best grown in a basket with a coarse bark mix or mounted on a large cork slab to accommodate the pendant inflorescences and ensure excellent airflow at the roots. Ships bare root, well established.
