Beschreibung

A botanically fascinating miniature orchid from Andean cloud forests, instantly recognizable by its highly unusual tubular blooms — a form so distinctive it inspired the species name, from the Latin for "proboscis." The tightly fused sepals form an elongated, pendant structure with rounded, inward-curving tips and a contrasting yellow-green base.

  • Light: Low to moderate light; 70–80% shade cloth. Avoid direct sun, which can scorch the foliage.
  • Temperature: 57–72°F (14–22°C); intermediate grower. Benefits from moderate temperature fluctuation between day and night.
  • Humidity: 70–90%. High humidity is key; always pair with good air movement to prevent fungal rot.
  • Watering: Keep roots evenly moist at all times. Water more frequently in warm months, slightly less in winter. Never allow to dry out completely.

Additional Notes

Best grown in fine bark or sphagnum moss in small net or plastic pots. Well suited for intermediate indoor or greenhouse setups. Offered by Ecuagenera, Ecuador, as a well-established bare-root plant.
