Beschreibung

A highly ornamental and floriferous species from the cloud forests of Central America. It forms a dense clump of large orbicular-ovate leaves with a finely papillose iridescent surface on striking dark stems, and produces multiple pectinate racemes on long peduncles with successive small flowers bearing translucent triangular sepals, bilobed petals, and a contrasting bilobed labellum with a yellow column at the center.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 50–70% shade cloth; avoid direct sun, which can damage the ornamental foliage.
  • Temperature: 60–78°F (16–26°C); an Intermediate-Warm grower that tolerates warmer conditions than most Lepanthes.
  • Humidity: 75–90%; maintain consistently high humidity — ideal for warm terrarium setups.
  • Watering: Water frequently to keep the medium evenly moist; avoid prolonged dryness, as Lepanthes roots are sensitive to dehydration.

Additional Notes

Best grown in a small net pot with fine sphagnum moss or mounted on cork. The striking contrast between its dark stems and iridescent foliage makes it as ornamental out of bloom as in flower. Plants are shipped bare root and well-established.
