Bulbophyllum clandestinum

This epiphytic orchid, known as "The Hidden Bulbophyllum," has a wide distribution across Southeast Asia and Oceania at elevations around 1000 to 1200 meters. It is a cool to intermediate-growing species found on terminal branches in evergreen lowland forests.

• Light: Prefers bright, indirect light or shade. While it tolerates more light than some Bulbophyllum species, strictly avoid strong, direct sun exposure.
• Temperature: Cool to intermediate-growing species. Optimal temperatures range from 68-86°F (20-30°C) during the day, with a night drop of at least 10°F (6°C) for robust growth.
• Humidity: Requires high ambient humidity, ideally 70% or more, with excellent and constant air circulation to replicate its forest canopy habitat.
• Watering: Watering must be frequent and ample to keep the substrate consistently moist, but with slight drying between waterings. Do not allow the plant to dry out completely.

Additional Notes

Bulbophyllum clandestinum has a long, creeping rhizome. The flowers are small, about 0.6 cm, and can vary in color. This species is best cultivated mounted on cork or tree fern slabs to accommodate its sprawling growth habit.
