Colocasia esculenta 'Black Magic'

Root rot, present leaves dead and crusty. I may get to enjoy this plant in a few months with hopefully new growth.

I pre-ordered four plants, including a Colocasia esculenta ‘Black Magic,’ online and picked them up 3 weeks ago at a pop-up show near me. I received the Colocasia with three leaves—one was completely disintegrated and stuck to the plastic it arrived in—and limp stems that could not support the leaves. I found that several of the roots were rotten and removed those, then the two remaining leaves quickly became dry and crunchy. I have it in a small room with a humidifier running 24/7, and it put out a new leaf about a week ago! I’m feeling hopeful that the plant will look beautiful soon. I also learned that the leaves start out light green and turn dark with lots of light as they mature.
