Masdevallia Sugar Baby

A compact primary hybrid combining the prolific blooming habit of Masd. floribunda with the bold coloration of Masd. veitchiana. Flowers display warm orange-red tones on short upright spikes, emerging freely from a tight clump of foliage.

• Light: 70–80% shade cloth; avoid any direct sun exposure, which can scorch the delicate foliage and bleach flower color.
• Temperature: 50–65°F (10–18°C) — Cool grower; benefits from a slight drop in nighttime temperatures to encourage blooming.
• Humidity: 80–90%; maintain strong air circulation at all times to prevent fungal issues and crown rot, especially in warm conditions.
• Watering: Keep evenly moist year-round; water 2–3× per week depending on conditions. Never allow the roots to dry out completely — Masdevallias have no pseudobulbs to store water.

Additional Notes

Grown at Ecuagenera's facilities in the highlands of Ecuador under cool, humid conditions that closely mimic its natural Andean habitat. Plants are shipped bare root, well-established, and acclimated to cool growing conditions.
