Beschreibung

This is a newly described, small, creeping epiphytic orchid belonging to the Pleurothallidinae subtribe, native to the high-elevation montane cloud forests of Ecuador (1,800-2,000 m). This species was described by the Ecuagenera research team.

  • Light: Requires filtered or diffused light, similar to the shade under the dense canopy of the cloud forest. Direct, intense sunlight must be strictly avoided as it can cause leaf damage.
  • Temperature: It requires Intermediate-Cool conditions with significant temperature fluctuations between day and night. The ideal range is 55-75°F (13-24°C).
  • Humidity: High ambient humidity (70% or higher) is crucial to replicate its constantly moist, foggy habitat. Consistent air circulation is necessary to prevent spotting and rot.
  • Watering: The plant should be watered regularly, keeping the medium constantly moist but ensuring excellent drainage. It is often grown mounted or in small pots with fine, well-draining media.

Additional Notes

Flowers are typically small, reddish-purple, and borne in fascicles (clusters) on a short inflorescence emerging near the base of the leaf. This species exhibits the general characteristics of the Acianthera genus, known for its creeping habit.
