Information

Description

Description

A striking miniature orchid from Andean cloud forests, renowned for its intensely colored blooms. The flowers display the classic Masdevallia form — fused sepals tapering into slender tails — in deep, blood-red tones that make this species one of the most visually dramatic in the genus.

  • Light: Low to moderate light; 70–80% shade cloth. Avoid direct sun exposure.
  • Temperature: 50–65°F (10–18°C); cool grower. Cool nights are essential — avoid prolonged temperatures above 75°F (24°C).
  • Humidity: 70–90%. Maintain high humidity with good air circulation to prevent fungal issues.
  • Watering: Keep roots evenly moist at all times. Water more frequently in warm months, slightly less in winter.

Additional Notes

Best grown in fine bark or sphagnum moss in small net or plastic pots. Ideal for cool-growing or climate-controlled setups. Offered by Ecuagenera, Ecuador, as a well-established bare-root plant.
