Description

Description

A bold and architecturally striking species from Andean cloud forests, bearing solitary, erect flowers on upright ramicauls. The two lateral sepals are broad, elongated, and lanceolate, spreading outward in a dramatic open V-formation, while the shorter dorsal sepal stands upright — giving the bloom a sculptural, geometric silhouette unlike most others in the genus.

  • Light: 60–70% shade cloth; bright indirect light. Avoid direct sun, which scorches the leaves.
  • Temperature: 60–78°F (15–26°C) — Intermediate to warm grower. Tolerates warmer conditions well; avoid prolonged cold below 58°F (14°C).
  • Humidity: 75–90%. Maintain good air movement to prevent fungal issues at the crown and roots.
  • Watering: 2–3 times per week; keep roots evenly moist. No pseudobulbs — cannot tolerate drying out. Use soft, low-mineral water when possible.

Additional Notes

Grown and propagated by Ecuagenera in the highlands of Ecuador. An unusual species within the genus for its warm tolerance and distinctive floral architecture. Shipped bare root, well-established.
